Foreclosure Prevention Grant Program

Providing funds to help homeowners who are three or more months behind on their mortgage catch up.

About

Have you fallen behind on your mortgage payments and worried about the possibility of becoming homeless? The DHCD Mortgage Retention Grant may be able to assist you!

To qualify for assistance, you must:

  • Have a household income below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level
  • Be experiencing a financial crisis that places you at risk of losing your home
  • Lack the financial resources or support needed to resolve your mortgage delinquency
  • Be able to maintain your mortgage payments after receiving assistance
  • Not have applied for this assistance within the past 24 months (2 years)

Agency guidlines

Referring agencies must submit all of the following:
  • Mortgage Retention Grant Referral Application (two pages)
  • Mortgage Retention Grant Client Summary, including lender and mortgage information
  • Documentation showing mortgage delinquency, such as:
    • Act 91 Notice
    • Act 6 Notice
    • Mortgage Foreclosure Notice
    • Court of Common Pleas docket number
    • Current mortgage statement
    • Other documentation verifying the delinquency

All referrals must be emailed as a complete packet with required supporting documents to Congreso at congresohousing@gmail.com. Missing information will delay review and processing.
